Practice

1. You have a student who has missed three of the first five class periods and two quizzes. When you ask for an explanation she tells you she has been out with mononucleosis. According to the UC Denver grading policy you should first:

Ask for the name of her doctor so you can verify her condition.
Ask for medical proof of her condition.
Give her an "Incomplete."
Give her an "F."

2. One of your students is an iPod nut, playing their iPod during class at a volume that can be heard by neighboring students. You have already asked the student to take off the iPod during class, and warned her that you would take disciplinary action if she doesn't. She has adamantly refused because it is "private music."

Your next step should be to:

Refer the student to the Counseling Center.
Develop an online class for the next semester so you won't have this problem.
File a Disruptive Incident Report within 24 hours of the next incident.
Administer a second warning.

3. In case of an emergency (fire, violence, injury) you should call:

911 if you are on the main AHEC campus, and 556-5000 if you are off campus (Lawrence Street Center, UC Denver building).
911 if you are off campus (Lawrence Street Center, UC Denver building), and 556-5000 if you are on the main AHEC campus.
911 for all emergencies.
556-5000 for all emergencies.
