Syllabus
Make it easy on yourself. Use this template to guide the completion of your syllabus, it has samples of the wording and headings you can use in your syllabus.
The syllabus is an essential component of effective teaching, learning, and outcomes assessment. A well-crafted syllabus defines the class requirements and deadlines, as well as instructor’s expectations for students’ academic performance and ethical conduct. The syllabus, therefore, essentially serves as a contract between the instructor and the student.
All faculty members must have a current syllabus for each course, review that syllabus with students at the first class meeting, and ensure that it is readily available to students.
According to campus policy, your syllabus must have the following elements:
- Logistical Information.
- Course Design.
- Assessment Design.
- Course Policies.
- Students with Disabilities
- Student Code of Conduct
- Course Schedule.
And Consider including:
- Student Success.
- Course Communication.
- Returning Graded Assignments.
- Students called for military duty.
- School/College Requirements.
For more information on each of these requirements, consult the Downtown Campus syllabus policy.
