Student Email Policy
Email is an official means of communication for students at the University of Colorado Denver. All official University email will be sent to each student’s assigned UC Denver email address, as per the University email policy.
Every student must have UC Denver address (firstname.lastname@email.ucdenver.edu) by the end of the first week of classes. Students are automatically assigned an account upon being admitted.
Students’ other email addresses (hotmail.com, Comcast.net) will not receive official university email.
Email is also vital to faculty-student and student-student class communications in class. The University expects proper instructional netiquette:
- Faculty promptly respond to student emails
- Students promptly respond to faculty emails
- All parties maintain respectful attitudes toward one another.
Official University email includes:
- Invitations to register
- Responses to your inquiries about registration, admissions, records, and financial aid
- Information and authorization/verification requests for COF, legal presence issues
- Messages from faculty regarding coursework
- Notices of scholarship, educational, and financial aid opportunities and deadlines
