Policies
Oh Behave! Misconduct Policies.
You have the right (and obligation) not to remain silent
“Disruption” is student or visitor behavior that a reasonable faculty member would view as interfering with normal academic functions. Students and faculty are both responsible for maintaining an appropriate learning environment.
If a student becomes disruptive:
- Ask the student to stop the disruptive behavior and warn them that such behavior can result in academic or disciplinary action.
- If the behavior persists, you may ask the student to leave the classroom (or online course) and file a Disruptive Classroom Incident Report within 24 hours.
- You may also exclude the student from the learning environment, and in extreme cases call the Auraria Campus Police.
The Downtown Campus has a detailed and helpful policy on classroom and course-related behavior. You will find extensive resources on the Community Standards and Wellness site.
Interfering with normal academic functions:
Such as persistently speaking without being recognized or interrupting other speakers; distracting behavior; personal insults to faculty or students, refusal to comply with faculty directions; physical threats.
Academic or disciplinary action:
Exclusion from class, being put on probation or suspended from the program or from UC Denver, or expulsion.
